I usually get asked


Do I need to meet you?    

Not always. I’m based in Berkshire, and usually work via email, Skype and/or telephone – it’s effective and keeps my (your) costs down. I’ve built long-lasting relationships with clients all across the UK (and some abroad too) - all I want is to understand your objectives.

How do I brief you?   

The best brief will get the best results; to get started, I just need relevant background information, such as:

·         Your objectives (eg. demand generation, new business sales, product launch etc.)

·         Your target market (businesses, sectors, consumers, existing customers, new prospects etc.)

·         What 'tone of voice' you expect (professional, informative, informal, hard-hitting etc.)

·         Product/service descriptions (after all, I’ll need something to write about.)

How do I get my copy?   

I’ll send you an email with the copy attached as a Word doc or another appropriate format.

What if I want you to make changes to your copy?  

Each fixed-fee project includes any necessary amendments (I don’t expect to be word-perfect, first time, every time) – so long as the changes you want are within the original brief.

What if I change the brief after you’ve started?   

It’s not a problem; we’ll agree a new fee (to include the work I’ve already done for you) and start again.

What will you charge me?   

I’ll always provide you with a fixed-fee quote for the entire project before we get started. I may ask for a deposit for larger assignments – you only pay the balance when you’re totally satisfied with the completed work. I also offer great terms to advertising and marketing agencies.

How do I pay you?  

If you are a new client I’ll ask you for a 50% deposit before we start. I’ll send you a final invoice once you’ve signed off the copy. Terms are usually 14 days. Ownership of all work is signed over to you on receipt of payment.

Is your service confidential?   

I’ll need to know about your business and your objectives, but all information is treated as confidential, so I’ll sign your NDA – if you don’t have one, I can send you one that I prepared earlier.

What if you don’t know anything about my type of business?   

It really doesn’t matter. I approach each copywriting project from the perspective of a potential customer – it helps to avoid the use of too much industry jargon. I’ll research all necessary background information before I get started.

Can I have some samples of work?   

Certainly! Let me know what you need (web copy, brochure, direct mail etc.) and I’ll email you some recent examples and web links.

How long will you take?   

We’ll agree the schedules before work starts. I organise my diary around your needs, so you’re never kept waiting. I can work to tight schedules if you’re under pressure.
